This complex project comprises the soft strip, asbestos removal and demolition down to the lowest slab of the three storey commercial building, known as Wendle Court, the protection of the existing substation followed by enabling works to facilitate the formation of a temporary car park.

Located on Wandsworth Road, Wendle Court is only 10 metres away from Vauxhall mainline and is close to underground and bus stations. Due to the close proximity of the railway, the project requires extensive liaison with Network Rail, who have approval over our proposed methodology.

The site is located on a busy carriageway and bounded by commercial properties to the North as well as small commercial units within the arches of the Railway viaduct and is subject to heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Noisy works are to be kept to a minimum and carried out in accordance with Section 60 Notice to reduce disruption to the adjacent buildings and occupiers and wherever possible hand techniques will be utilised.

In accordance with agreements with NR this building will be fully encapsulated in sheeted Scaffold whilst the roof and upper storey walls will be demolished by hand techniques. First and second floors will be remotely demolished utilising ground based low reach excavators which have been sized to ensure they cannot impinge upon the safe operation of the railway lines.

Upon completion of demolition it is anticipated that we will be removing lowest slabs and foundations prior to installing a new serviced car park for private use by local officer users prior to full development of the site.
