Keith was appointed as Managing Director in the late 1980’s upon his father’s retirement and has developed the business from its origins into the business it is today.
Keith’s leadership skills, commitment to health and safety, whilst maintaining consideration for both quality and the environment has facilitated long term relationships with stakeholders and clients and a large proportion of repeat business.
Demonstrated effectiveness in managing operations and resolving complex issues in a timely cost effective manner Keith is supported by a team of experienced Directors, Project Managers, Office Staff and Site Personnel.
Graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering, William joined H Smith (Engineers) Limited in 1997 as Engineering Manager, having worked within the Team since 1989 as a Consulting Engineer. William was appointed Technical Director in 2006
As Technical Director, Willy is involved with all significant projects from budget and tender stages to help formulate a considered, safe and sequenced demolition process cognisant of the building’s construction, condition and location. At contract stage he will instruct upon any necessary structural investigations required to validate proposed sequences and methods, and will continue to be involved on site to regularly until completion to ensure methodologies and sequences are adapted and updated as more becomes known about the subject structure
William ensures that all methodologies and sequencing of our soft strip, refurbishment and partial/full demolition activities are carried out such that the stability of all buildings are maintained at all stages of the works. Where necessary William either does, or is in control of, all necessary design elements in relation to temporary and permanent supports and also acts as our in house Temporary Works Coordinator. William also holds Contracts Manager, Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) and Professionally Qualified CSCS cards.
William was the sole NFDC representative serving on the steering group for the current Ciria Guidance on the design and detailing of façade retention systems and maintains a good working knowledge of current best practice within the construction and specialist demolition industries.
Alan is highly experienced Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Company Director with over 45 years’ experience in the commercial field. As well as demolition, he is particularly experienced in areas of new works/construction including; ground works, substructure works, landscaping, permanent steel or concrete works etc.
Alan has been with H Smith for more than 25 years and has been involved in managing a vast amount of our Public and Private Sector contracts. As Commercial Director, he is responsible for the overall financial management of our demolition projects and their success in achieving effective cost control. As part of his duties he will, in conjunction with Managing Director, Keith Roshier, provide positive management and liaison with the Site Team, the Client and any external Cost Advisors on relevant matters.
Andrew was appointed Surveying Director in 2011, a position which he holds today. He has been with H Smith’s for more than 20 years since joining in 1995 as Technical Assistant, Andrew quickly moved through the company undertaking Project Management roles and finally settled at Project Surveyor.
Andrew, as Surveying Director, is responsible for the overall commercial management from budget stage to tender, through to commencement and completion on site. Andrew’s project experience extends beyond traditional demolition works having overseen many complex, multidiscipline challenging projects involving, enabling works and new building, radiological decontamination, asbestos removal, temporary works and façade retention.
Andrew is a self motivated with a demonstrated ability to communicate and manage effectively with stakeholders, clients and contractors to ensure the projects run efficiently within budget and on time.
