Clements House, Gresham Street

Large scale Central London demolition of mulit storey R.C. framed buildings located opposite the City of London Guildhall. Following our soft strip and asbestos removal operations, the demolition works were sequenced in two phases to accomodate a boundary wall agreement with an adjacent site in the process of constructing a superstructure frame. The demolition sequence was also designed to accomodate 3 live substations within the building to be demolished while the statutory utilities redirected the network.

The removal of the structure necessitated the requirement for various temporary works systems to uphold triple and double basements to the perimeter retaining walls.

Significant pile probing works were carried out in conjunction with an extensive archaeological investigation, and the on site processing and placement of a crushed piling mat up to 6m deep for the follow on piling contractors use.

Specific environmental requirements were met following consultation with the Environmental Health Team and the clients team responsible for achieving an excellent BREEAM rating. This involved monitoring vibration, dust, and noise emissions, water and fuel usage and recycling levels achieved.
